Profiles for Peace
Pondering Peace invites you to submit an original poem to the Profiles for Peace project. A selection of the poems will be included in a commemorative collection and also a few Pacifica Peeps will be videotaped reading their favorite poems. Profiles for Peace is free and open to all Pacifica students and alumni/ae. The deadline for submissions is September 8th, 2016. For more details please visit www.ponderingpeace.com or call (805) 679-6163.
The project is an initiative of the Office of Alumni Relations and is made possible with the support of Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Poems are healing, wonderful and offer a great way to share our remembrances of and for the victims of 9/11. Our 2016 community forum is a great opportunity to provide our community with the nurturing support and care of the Pacifica Community.
“Submission Guidelines”
We prefer submissions that have not appeared elsewhere online; however, we accept previously printed work with proper credit. Send your best, unpublished work, or send work for which you wish to gain a larger audience. What we don’t like any work that demeans any group of people for the sake of self-expression. What we like is language-rich and life-affirming poetry that shows attention to craft and the potential to endure time.
- Poetry submissions must not exceed 3 poems total.
- Submissions must be typed and single spaced (double spaces will be interpreted as blank lines). Include your name, email address, and mailing address on each page.
- Submit each poem in a separate document along with the poet’s biography.
- Biographical statements should be two to three sentences or approximately 50 words.
